“As a full-time working mum with two young children, my spare time is precious! What little there is I like to spend in the kitchen trying out new recipes although I would have to admit I prefer to eat out!”
Karen Hulme - Head of Capability Development
Karen Hulme
Karen worked in learning and development in both the private and public sectors prior to joining Hemsley Fraser in 2001. During her previous roles she has designed and delivered group-wide management development programmes for all levels of managers. At First National (a GE company) she designed, managed and delivered the Graduate Placement Scheme and the company Management Development Programme. Karen has extensive experience of designing and rolling out performance management systems across a business.

Sally Hurrell - Head of Resourcing
Sally Hurrell
Sally joined Hemsley Fraser in March 1998, since which time she has been involved with a number of strategic initiatives including leading the business through the transition period between ISO 9000:1994 and ISO 9001:2000 and the establishment of a Project Support Office. As Head of Resourcing, and part of Hemsley Fraser’s Senior Management team, Sally is responsible for the resourcing decisions necessary for all client work and significant internal projects.
Having qualified as a bi-lingual secretary, Sally’s early career was closely linked to learning, initially within a local primary school working with children with learning difficulties. She then moved into a role in educational publishing, developing and designing workbooks, reference materials and assessment aids aimed at supporting both teachers and students through the introduction of the National Curriculum. This involved a high degree of interaction with many Head Teachers across the country, at a time when they were struggling to come to terms with what the introduction of a ‘national’ curriculum meant for them in reality.
As you would expect from someone used to the ethos of ISO9001 – Sally’s interests lie very much with improving internal working practices, encouraging individuals to challenge the norm and learn from mistakes in the drive to achieve greater efficiencies both for Hemsley Fraser and clients alike.
When not at work Sally loves to spend time with her family - with 3 children and 3 grandchildren (not to mention her long suffering husband) life is never dull. On the rare occasions when her family are gainfully occupied, she likes nothing better than to curl up with a good book.
