Meet a selection of our trainers below:

George Baxter

George believes the learning environment should be a 'safe' one, where attendees can make mistakes and learn without fear, in a relaxed atmosphere.

George joined Hemsley Fraser in June 2000, bringing with him extensive training experience gained through a variety of training and development roles. He is a qualified Thomas International psychometrician.

George has been heavily involved with a broad range of clients, his extensive experience being called upon to assist and work with organisations such as Accenture, Unilever, Royal Bank of Scotland, and Bank of England.


 

Bev Holloway

Bev's professional career spans retail and financial services with roles in management, human resources and learning and development. Her areas of specialism include management and leadership, HR practices, interpersonal behavioural skills and communication skills.

Bev sees herself as a facilitator of learning, using a participative and consultative training style and a variety of methods such as exercises, discussions and self-reflection to encourage experimentation, thinking and learning. Her key questions to her learners are always "How will this benefit you?" and "How are you going to use this?"


 


Ian Caldecourt

Ian has a career spanning over 20 years in Learning and Development. He is relaxed, fun and informative in his training delivery and uses his experience and personal stories to stimulate thought and retention of learning to transfer back to the workplace.

Ian specialises in the design and delivery of Leadership and Management programmes and has expertise in delivering to large audiences at conferences and exhibitions in the UK and across Europe. He also delivers team building, personal impact and communication skills courses where his highly energetic, interactive style of delivery plays to his strengths. Ian is qualified in Myers Briggs, Belbin Team Roles and Kouzes and Posner Leadership Practices Inventory. He is also an ILM Assessor and Verifier and a qualified NVQ assessor.



 


Murray Furlong

Murray has a naturally positive, warm and engaging style and is always able to build trust and rapport with his clients. He encourages people to take responsibility for what they can and will do differently in the future.

Murray joined Hemsley Fraser in January 2009 from BBC Training and Development, bringing over ten years' experience working across broadcast education, trainee schemes, leadership and management development, personal effectiveness training and executive coaching. He has a Diploma in Business Administration from Bradford University School of Management, and is currently designing leadership, management and coaching programmes with a mix of private and public sector clients, including Accenture, Bexley Council and Standard Life.





 


Andy Kane

Andy Kane

Andy has been working as a consultant with Hemsley Fraser since 2005.

He has over 20 years' work experience in a variety of roles. These include managing, learning and development departments, managing civil-engineering projects, providing customer service support, and facilitating development projects in African rural communities. Andy's specialisation is in interpersonal communication and personal effectiveness.

Andy has also had the opportunity to work with many of Hemsley Fraser's major clients including Unilever, Airbus, RBS, National Theatre, Accenture and Bank of England.


 

Phil McKew

Phil McKew

Phil's approach is flexible and forward looking. He uses a range of techniques from discussion, lecture, NLP and Emotional Intelligence to stories, cartooning, games and role play. Phil immerses his delegates in realistic situations and constantly adapts to individual needs to help everyone get the most out of the course.

Phil's specialist skills include leadership and management development, HR, interpersonal skills and customer service.

Phil has led Hemsley Fraser's training faculty teams looking after clients including the London Borough of Lewisham, NatWest and Anglo Irish Banks, British Aerospace, MBDA, the Ministry of Defence and Shell.

 

Alison Cowper

Alison Cowper

Alison has been with Hemsley Fraser since 2001, during which time thousands of delegates from hundreds of companies and organisations have benefited from her knowledge and expertise.

Alison creates a learning environment that is relaxed and friendly. Participants feel supported to gain knowledge, and to try out techniques and activities which develop new or enhanced skills. Delegates in Alison's workshops gain confidence to transfer these techniques into work situations.

Alison has successfully provided consultancy, designing and delivering bespoke in-house training to both public and private sector clients including Royal Bank of Scotland, British Telecommunications Plc and NHS Executive.

 

Teresa Benzinski

Teresa Benzinski

Using a participative and interactive training style, Teresa emphasises the development of delegates' skills and confidence. She also respects individuality and variety within the context of corporate cultures.

Teresa is multilingual, speaking Japanese, Polish and French, and has been heavily involved in the design and delivery of training to our international customers.

Recent clients that Teresa has worked with include Nestle, Hilton International, UKAEA, the Royal Bank of Scotland, Norwich Union and Visa International.

 

Jean Sutcliffe

Jean Sutcliffe

Jean spent most of her career working as both a secretary and PA and spent the last five years of her secretarial career working as a PA to a Board Director. Jean understands the secretarial/PA market and has a passion for raising the profile of this role, increasing the value of the PA to their boss, the team and the organisation.

Jean has an energetic facilitation style which is contagious and will keep you energised and focused throughout the training. She likes to create an informal and engaging atmosphere where you will be able to relax and feel comfortable, but still stay focused on learning skills and techniques that you can use immediately.

Jean has worked with clients such as Daily Telegraph, UMIST, The Bank of England, Deloittes, GlaxoSmithKline, London Underground, The Institute of Directors and the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister.

 

Jan White

Jan White

Jan's aim is to unravel the mystery of business writing and grammatical rules through discussion and practical activity.

She creates an environment where questions can be asked, rules can be challenged, and where learners can appreciate the importance of producing accurate and concise business writing that gets results. Throughout the learning experience, she encourages delegates to think of how new ideas and knowledge will be put into action in the workplace. Jan has worked with various private sector organisations such as The Bank of England and Zenith Insurance.

 

Malcolm Caudren

Malcolm Caudron

Malcolm has over 22 years of experience in training, firstly in the Royal Air Force, and from 2006 with Hemsley Fraser. He is a strong believer in making the learning experience both fun and interactive, and enjoys building a strong rapport with delegates. He believes in challenging his participants to think for themselves, yet supporting them through this process. This enables them to absorb the information at a deeper level and make subsequent changes to their behaviour and practices back in the workplace.

His current specialisations lie in management & leadership; personal impact, effectiveness & communication; teambuilding; health & safety awareness and first aid, where he concentrates on middle and first line management, staff training and graduate programmes.

 

Lindsey Byrne

Lindsey Byrne

Lindsey favours a participative and consultative training style, which will give the delegates the opportunity to experiment through exercises, discussions and group activities. By adopting a facilitator role, Lindsey challenges delegates and encourages them to learn through discovery.

Lindsey is an ACMA with an MBA from Warwick University. She joined Hemsley Fraser in 2003, bringing with her extensive training experience in finance and strategy gained through training and development roles held in the telecoms, defence and manufacturing industries.

 

Hannah Kirk

Hannah Kirk

Hannah Kirk is a Learning and Development professional with over 15 years' experience. She is fiercely passionate about developing people and maintains a high level of enthusiasm and energy when delivering training to create a productive and motivational atmosphere.

Hannah has a wide ranging skill set that includes the following specialisms: management and leadership development, personal effectiveness and communication, HR management and administration including recruitment and selection. She is a professionally qualified coach and a qualified MBTI assessor and is used to working with junior to senior managers across a variety of sectors.

 

Paul Richardson

Paul Richardson

Paul brings to the classroom a wealth of experience working in project environments for a number of large organisations, most notably a major engineering organisation with whom he has helped develop a global competency model for their Project Management community.

His anecdotal style and ability to relate the content of the course to real life, make for a truly rich learning experience, a world away from the dreaded ‘Death by PowerPoint’ approach to training! Paul is a qualified PRINCE2 Practitioner and Approved Trainer and has also attained the APMP qualification through the APM.

 

Moyra Wright

Moyra Wright

Moyra is a PMI-PMP Professional, a registered PRINCE2 practitioner and an accredited PRINCE2 trainer. She is also an APM Practitioner and an assessor for the APMPQ Practitioner qualification. She gained qualifications from Belbin Associates and is MOUS accredited in Microsoft Project 2000 updated to the 2010 version.

Project Management plays a crucial role in today's ever-changing work environment and the need to realise business success. Moyra favours a participative and interactive training style, which will give the delegates the opportunity to experiment through exercises, discussions and other activities.

Moyra has been called upon to work with some well-known in-company clients including BAE Systems, Freeserve, the Cabinet Office, The Royal Bank of Scotland and the Strategic Rail Authority.

 

Graham Kerr

Graham believes that if learning is to be effectively transferred into the workplace then it is essential that each delegate is able to view their trainer as their professional tutor.

Graham is an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers, a Registered PRINCE2 Practitioner and holds the Association for Project Management Professional (APMP) qualification. He particularly focuses on the delivery of our project management fundamentals and qualification courses and has a knack of enabling young professionals to quickly grasp the complexities involved in running successful projects. Graham has worked with a number of our high profile clients such as Airbus, Kodak, Visa International, The Law Society, Standard Life and Philips.


 


Tracey Grice

Tracey Grice

Tracey joined Hemsley Fraser in 2006 bringing with her a wealth of experience in the financial services sector. Having previously been Head of Operational Training for HBOS in London, Tracey has a proven track record in management, leadership and financial roles. She is also an associate member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers.

Tracey draws on her experiences and relates training to how it can be applied back in the workplace. She encourages delegates to question theory and practice in order to gain a full understanding of the learning materials and discussions.

Tracey's clients have included Accenture, G4 Security, The Kennel Club, British Bankers Association, RBS, BSkyB and Airbus.

 

Graham Bailey

Graham Bailey

Graham brings a wealth of marketing experience to his programmes having worked in leading London advertising agencies and blue chip companies including Cadbury Schweppes, Unilever and Disney.

His approach to training is enthusiastic, pragmatic and practical with a desire for every participant to leave feeling that they can now handle the marketing projects facing them with confidence. Graham firmly believes that the training room is just the start of a learning process which carries on long after the delegate has returned to the workplace.

 

Maud Davis

Maud Davis

Maud works in the creative writing business where stories have to grab the attention of journalists, whilst communicating marketing and promotional messages. The dynamism of this sector is reflected in her engaging workshops where she breaks everything down into manageable chunks so that the learning remains long after the training finishes.

Her encouragement teases out the best of everyone's hidden writing abilities so that the most challenging writing brief seems effortlessly achievable. Approachable and supportive, she provides one-to-one feedback within a safe haven, so that everyone can benefit individually.

Maud is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations and an ex-journalist.

 

Karen May

Karen May

Karen started her career as a magazine journalist and over the past 20 years has written for a range of different media. She has also worked as a publishing consultant for many corporate clients, specialising in the field of internal communications.

Karen has been a trainer for ten years and her learning style is encouraging and supportive, yet thought-provoking and demanding. Humour plays an important role in the delivery. In her words, "When we have fun, we relax and are more open to new ideas and approaches. We also remember more too." Ultimately, she believes that training is about helping people to achieve their goals in the best way possible.

 

Roger Stent

Roger has one guiding principle in his approach to training – to make learning at work meaningful, memorable and fun. This underpins his entire approach when working with course participants and coachees. His big question for his learners is 'What are you going to do differently as a result of investing x days of your life in this programme?"

With over 25 years' experience in general line management, and a decade of being a trainer and coach, Roger Stent combines a deep knowledge of management theory with the lessons learned from real-life. He loves to help people share experiences and explore situations from a pragmatic, practical view.

Keen to keep up-to-date, Roger is a Fellow of both the Institute of Leadership and Management and the Chartered Institute of Management, holds formal accreditation from Belbin Associates to deliver Team Role Assessments, has both BPS Level A and TAP Certificates, and is a Masters-level qualified executive coach.

 

Helen Tracy

Helen leads Hemsley Fraser’s Technology Enhanced Learning capability and works with both national and international customers to help design and deliver innovative learning solutions to specifically match their business needs. Helen is passionate about using online communication technologies to enhance the flexibility of training provision and offer new possibilities for learning.

With extensive experience of consulting on the design of learning and development programmes, Helen is committed to using appropriate technologies to promote engagement, enhance the learning experience and support the application of new skills in the workplace. With a background in online and blended learning, Helen’s private sector experience is supplemented by several years working in Higher Education on the design of e-learning materials and large scale post-graduate programmes.

In addition to her e-learning expertise, Helen is an experienced trainer, having worked for several years on the design and delivery of Business English programmes in Europe. Helen has Master’s degrees in e-learning and information systems and is working towards a doctorate focusing on technology enhanced learning in organisations. She is also a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

 

Neal Cooper

Neal Cooper

Neal Cooper has worked in the Learning and Development field for 24 years across a range of sectors, countries and businesses. He is used to working with people in First Line Manager roles and at the most senior levels of management.

He trains and coaches people in the areas of Leadership and Business Communication, specialising in: Business Presentation, Management Development, Influencing, Interviewing, Negotiation and Impact.

Neal is certified in the use of Thomas International DISC personal profiling. He lived in Paris for 17 years and can work in both English and French.

 

Julia Dickson

Julia Dickson

Julia joined Hemsley-Fraser in 2006 following 18 years in senior management in Fund Management and Stockbroking. She is passionate about helping people to realise their full potential. Her dynamic, humorous and interactive style leaves delegates fired up with the attitude, motivation and tools to make an immediate impact back in the workplace.

Julia's qualifications in Positive Psychology result in her delegates reporting increased confidence and self-esteem. Specialist areas - presentation skills, influence, assertiveness and leadership/management skills.

Julia will see your potential and will inspire you to achieve more than you thought possible. Recent clients include RBS, BskyB, Rolls-Royce, AstraZeneca.

 

Sarah-Jayne Church

Sarah-Jayne joined Hemsley Fraser in 2007. Sarah-Jayne is CIPD qualified and brings a wealth of experience of design and delivery of corporate training programmes.

Sarah-Jayne's training style is highly motivational with a down to earth approach. Participants are easily able to apply the learning to their workplace situation. She uses real life practical methodology and a variety of methods such as discussions, self-reflection and other activities to encourage experimentation, thinking and learning.

Sarah-Jayne's main passion and expertise are in the sales, business development and personal impact areas. She also has ten years’ experience within the recruitment industry.

 

Kay Cadell

Kay Cadell

Kay Cadell is a presentation and media consultant specialising in the training of business people who have to speak at conferences, seminars, road-shows or group meetings. Kay has been a specialist Presentation and Media trainer with Hemsley Fraser since 2000.

Kay has presented at conferences and chaired/hosted conferences and seminars to audiences of 130 plus in Australia and New Zealand about presenting skills. Kay has run conference speech rehearsals and worked with chairmen and MD's on their keynote speeches. Kay has worked with many business and professional people in UK and Europe to prepare them for radio and television interviews and presentations including EDF Energy, Panasonic UK, Lloyds Bank, BAA, Deloitte Consulting, Southern Water and ROK.

Kay is an entertaining and enthusiastic trainer and is able to adapt her courses to benefit the attendees. Her training helps people to plan and prepare their speeches and themselves with confidence. Kay really enjoys her work and meeting the challenge of each new course and interesting group of people.

 

Nigel Amphlett

Nigel Amphlett

Nigel is a professional facilitator who presents behavioural skills workshops. His style is achievement orientated, enthusiastic, pragmatic and highly effective.

He has 30 years' experience working with some of Britain's largest organisations including Vodafone, Kingfisher and Sainsbury's where he was a Senior Manager for 20 years. He has won a National Training Award, was part of Vodafone Retail's Management Board and has managed teams of twenty and budgets of millions. In the last ten years he has been working with Rolls-Royce, Unilever, Sony, United Nations (IMO), BT, Aviva, Channel 4, E.ON, RBS, Siemens and AstraZeneca.

He specialises in management, leadership, assertiveness, managing change, coaching, performance management, presentation skills, sales, influencing, interviewing and time management.


Shona McFarlane

Shona McFarlane

Shona joined Hemsley Fraser in 2005, bringing with her extensive sales and management experience gained from 17 years with blue chip organisations. She is a member of the CIPD, a Master Practitioner of Neuro Linguistic Programming and a qualified Executive Coach.

Shona believes passionately that each human being is capable of amazing things – if they could only realise it for themselves. Through a coaching and inclusive facilitation style, Shona consistently achieves breakthroughs with clients and delegates as they begin to focus on what is truly possible for them individually. Through challenge, empathy and respecting their right to their own point of view, Shona works alongside groups and individuals helping them to explore other possibilities.


Sally Stanley

Sally Stanley

Sally believes that training should be experience lead so the participants receive practical skills, knowledge and advice to take back to the workplace to use immediately. She strives to ensure her courses are engaging, participative and fun.

Having had ten years' sales experience before moving into training and development she recently spent six months selling for a magazine publisher. This honed her sales skills and allows her to bring recent experience into the training room. Sally has trained inexperienced and experienced individuals and sales teams from many industries including financial, telecoms, magazine and newspaper publishing, PR and hospitality and travel.


Mike Griffiths

Mike Griffiths

Mike Griffiths joined Hemsley Fraser in 2005 bringing with him a wealth of sales, management and consultancy experience gained from working with many diverse organisations across Europe, Asia and North America. He has worked within the learning industry for over 12 years as a consultant, facilitator, Account manager, sales director and again as a senior facilitator and executive coach.

Mike holds a Degree and Masters and during 2011 was a guest keynote speaker in Madrid and Lisbon discussing outsourcing for learning and development functions. He works extensively with BP, TransOcean, Airbus, RBS Group, Barclays, Nike and Sky to name just a few.


Tina Emerson

Tina Emerson

Tina's style is to work in partnership with her clients. Her approach is motivational, inclusive, flexible and exploratory. Her goal is raising awareness to bring knowledge and experience together with pragmatic learning solutions. She uses a wide range of psychometrics and emotional intelligence tools, enabling people to take control of their learning and behaviours.

Tina is a qualified coach with a background in management consultancy, HR/L&D and Retail. Approached to join Hemsley Fraser in 2011, her first project was to support Deutsche Bank in launching their worldwide management development programme.


Miriam Akhtar

Miriam Akhtar

Miriam is one of the UK's leading practitioners of positive psychology and was one of the first positive psychologists in Europe. She runs Positive Psychology Masterclasses which attract delegates from across the globe and delivers positive psychology and well-being programmes for a variety of clients in the business, health and educational sectors.

Miriam is one of 100 global experts who contributed to the World Book of Happiness, sent to world leaders by the President of the EU and is the author of four books including Positive Psychology for Overcoming Depression: Self-help Strategies for Happiness, Inner Strength & Well-being. She is a keynote speaker and appears regularly in the media.


Chris Norburn

Chris Norburn

Chris has a career in training and personal development spanning over 25 years. She believes in creating a relaxed, positive and informative training environment and uses her experience to help stimulate participants to be able to transfer the learning back into the workplace.

She specialises in the design and delivery of Leadership and Management workshops and also delivers team building, communication skills, interpersonal behavioural skills and presentation skills workshops.

Chris is a staunch believer in people "learning by doing". She enjoys facilitating as an integral part of her delivery style. Chris encourages course participants to explore their potential through discussion and other activities or exercises as appropriate to the session. She believes in challenging individual paradigms, and also encourages individuals to think beyond their usual boundaries.


Sue Savage

Sue Savage

Sue has over 20 years' experience working within blue-chip, global organisations such as United Utilities, Prudential, National Australia Bank and JCB. She believes that learning should be challenging, meaningful and fun! She is also passionate about ensuring that any programme or training course adds value and makes a measurable difference to both the individual and the organisation.

She has extensive knowledge and practical experience of designing and implementing Organisational Development initiatives, with particular expertise in the fields of cultural change, talent management, coaching and mentoring, psychometric profiling, leadership development, learning design and evaluative techniques.


Debbie Austin

Debbie Austin

Debbie has gained extensive experience in consultancy, design, coaching and facilitating training events. She trains with passion, energy and enthusiasm. Her strong belief is that people learn more in a relaxed and motivating environment and therefore she ensures her training is engaging, inspiring and confidence building.

Debbie has a wealth of learning and development experience within the areas of interpersonal communication, management & leadership and PA programmes.

Debbie's strengths are her energy and enthusiasm which promote a collaborative and empowering learning environment. It is important to her that all her delegates feel valued, have their confidence built and are able to personally grow in their abilities.


Frances Scott

Frances Scott

Frances's career spans research, careers guidance, graduate recruitment and management development. She specialises in management and leadership, project management, business writing, interpersonal behaviour and communication skills.

Her style is interactive. She encourages people to participate, contribute their ideas, learn through their experiences and apply their learning to their work. She is qualified to use MBTI, SHL, SDI and Thomas International psychometrics.

Frances been with Hemsley Fraser since 2003. She has worked with many clients in the public and private sectors, including EDF Energy, Accenture, Sotheby's, Sainsbury's, European Patent Organisation, Institute of Cancer Research and the Metropolitan Police.


Lois Grant

Lois Grant

Lois uses a warm, supportive and engaging approach to put participants at ease and build their confidence and skills. She has worked within the learning and development arena for 20 years and has delivered a range of management development and personal effectiveness training solutions in the UK, Europe and the Middle East.

Lois is qualified to administer MBTI, DiSC, Facet5 and Situational Leadership, and is also a Master Practitioner of NLP.


Nigel Wyatt

Nigel Wyatt

Nigel started his career in accountancy and working in industry. He became a lecturer at a UK university before moving into a career in consultancy (in 1991), specialising in financial and management training and coaching.

Nigel's training style is involving and participative using case studies to reinforce learning. He makes the programmes interesting and practical and makes sure delegates are able to put into practice what they have learned on their programme.

Nigel delivers training and consults widely with major organisations internationally. He has worked with hundreds of major "Blue Chip" organisations and trained thousands of managers at every level. He also provides confidential coaching to directors and senior executives on a one-to-one basis.


Chris Rogan

Chris has been at the forefront of collaboration skills development and has integrated it with many critical leadership areas.

Chris believes in building an independent capacity in the people he works with. His thoughtful and easy manner creates a constructive and reassuring environment in which people learn new skills and approaches. In particular, he has delivered training in collaboration skills, leadership development and team-building to a variety of organisations in the UK and internationally. Chris is a qualified coach and draws from this ability across his work to introduce, embed and sustain learning for his clients.


Helen Downey

Helen's experience ranges from frontline, senior leadership, internal consultant, coach and trainer in managing transformation projects driving continuous improvement. Helen has worked with Senior Leaders in business engaging all levels of stakeholders and has worked with diverse businesses across the Globe and improved performance, sales, customer service and leadership in a number of businesses.

Helen believes in drive, passion and energy. Her practical application and examples helps people and teams relate to the human and business aspects of change. Helen encourages individuals to unlock their true potential, to work through change and transitions.
