Designed to help all business professionals at all levels refresh their interpersonal skills.

What will it cover?

Workshop 1: Managing your Time Effectively

Ian Caldecourt

Are there never enough hours in the day? Do you wish the clocks went back every weekend? At work today it is so easy to never stop work as we become more reliant on technology and each business becomes more global. The day to day pressures continue and we rely on our fire fighting ability rather than being proactive.

This session will give you some key time management tips around:

  • Defining your role and where your time goes
  • Planning and prioritising your working day
  • Managing your time stealers

Workshop 2: Written Communication that Works

Alison Cowper

In the typical 21st century workplace, we communicate mainly by writing.

We sit behind our computer screens and email colleagues who sit a few desks away!  The tone of emails can be misinterpreted, relationships destroyed, and all because we did not take the time and effort to word our emails carefully.

This session guides you easily through tips on style, grammar, punctuation and tone.  Simple planning models will enable you to write emails, letters and reports more quickly, freeing up your time for other things.

This session will cover:

  • Am I writing in ‘Plain English’?
  • Do I make mistakes that affect my professional image?
  • Choosing an appropriate tone
  • Reducing the time it takes to write emails and letters
  • Planning and structuring reports.

Workshop 3: Dealing with Difficult People & Situations

Ian Caldecourt

Are there some times at work when whatever you try you seem to clash with someone? It’s very rare that people are deliberately trying to prevent you from doing your work. This session will look at the most common types of behaviour at work that frequently cause friction and give practical tips on how to overcome them.

You will learn how to:

  • Recognise the common problem scenarios
  • Develop an understanding through another lens
  • Communicate effectively through the challenge of technology

Workshop 4: Personal Branding for success

Jean Sutcliffe

Some people have never seen the need for personal marketing.  They do their best at work and are promoted every few years.  However the world has changed.  In most occupations lots of people have the skills required.  Being good at what you do is simply not enough.  You have to market yourself to enhance your career and be successful.

This fascinating session covers:

  • How your Brand is created
  • How to build your Brand
  • The importance of first impressions
