Session 2: Be Ready for Tomorrow – Adaptability is Key

Jean Sutcliffe

Over the last decade, PA jobs have changed beyond all recognition. We no longer work on a 1:1 basis, we no longer need our shorthand skills and almost everyone can touch type.  Today’s PA role is more diverse, which comes with higher expectations and a greater chance to explore opportunities. The skills we needed for yesterday are different from the skills we need for today and will be different for the skills we need for tomorrow. This session looks at the skills required to equip you for tomorrow’s world.  Having the right skills in place will help you cope with the ever-changing work environment and stay one step ahead of the game.

We'll explore five skills for tomorrow’s world:

  • Adaptability
    • Learn how to stretch your comfort zone
    • Have a survivor attitude
  • Critical Thinking
    • Question your assumptions
    • Adopt different perspectives
  • Optimism
    • How to change the belief and consequence
    • Find ways to worry less
  • Empathy
    • Being present
    • Get better at reading faces and body language
  • Resilience
    • How to deal with C.R.A.P.
    • Learning to bounce back

Session 3: Rock Your Profile: Personal Branding for Management Assistants

Diana Brandl

German cars stand for reliability, Italian fashion for elegance and Swiss chocolate for good taste. Because most people see it that way, they are seen as "strong brands" in the advertising world. But what is the brand of a management assistant? What do YOU stand for? Do you know your success characteristics? What do you want to be perceived for in the office? And what skills are important for the future?

In this session, expert trainer Diana Brandl will help you create the brand of the management assistant that will be needed in the future. The session will cover:

  • Creation of your skill list and portfolio
  • The art of storytelling: Do you know your elevator pitch?
  • The power of networking and social media

Session 4: Be a Productivity Pro!

Lindsay Taylor

In your busy office environment, when you’re the “go-to” person, how can you avoid that feeling of “overload”?  How can you ensure you get to the end of your working day feeling satisfied you’ve achieved everything? What are the real secrets to being a Productivity Pro?

At this thought-provoking and practical session, we’ll identify what gets in the way of you being productive and identify how you can step up to being a Productivity Pro!

Session 5: Communicating in a Virtual World

Ian Caldecourt

As we begin to communicate both more digitally and virtually many of us find it harder to avoid misunderstandings or to maintain others interest.

The emotional connection has gone and sometimes two of the 3 key parts (body language and tone) have been removed.

We can’t simply try to reproduce face to face communication virtually, we have to develop new techniques to help us. This session isn’t technical but a way to work to improve our 21st-century communication.

This session will look at:

  • Verbal and nonverbal cues in the Virtual world
  • How to build trust to build a connection
  • Top tips for Email, webinar and Conference calls
  • How to influence when communicating virtually

Suitable for PAs, EAs, secretaries, office managers and administrators.
